Case Study – From the Archives – Clyde Cooperage
Pointer have always maintained a high level of technical knowhow within our projects teams. This case study, delivered on behalf of Clyde Cooperage, once more showcases our ahead-of-the-curve capabilities.
Pointer designed, installed, and maintain a Panasonic i-Pro CCTV surveillance solution at Clyde Cooperage, which, at 40 acres, is the leading independent cooperage in the UK, on behalf of the Edrington Group, who are one of the largest producers of Scotch whisky in the world.
Due to the fact we were installing the system around an active cooperage, minimising any impact on its daily business operation was critical.
Therefore, at design-stage, the Pointer surveyor recommended Panasonic’s IP based i-Pro. Because of this, cabling time on-site was significantly reduced compared to a traditional coax installation.
In addition, we were able to supply power to all cameras over the network via Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), negating the need to install additional and expensive fused spurs at each camera point. And finally, the i-Pro solution offered unlimited levels of expandability, should further additions to the network be needed in the future.
The IP Video system allows Edrington staff to constantly monitor an extremely busy working environment and to fully comply with best practice under Health and Safety guidelines.
The video system installed was also required to provide the optimum scene coverage, a quality of image.
Mega-pixel technology allows retrospective investigations into incidents on-site, be they Health and Safety issues or minor industrial accidents, to become infinitely more simple with the addition of high-quality CCTV footage.
Video can be used to clarify actions of all parties involved, and has proved invaluable in corroborating any eyewitness accounts of incidents. Indeed, Edrington have have experienced a quantifiable downturn in the number of incidents passed on to their Human Resources department since the system was installed.
