News – Pointer Achieve Double Gold in Investors in People and Investors in Young People Awards
Pointer are delighted to announce that we have achieved a double Gold in the Investors in People and Investors in Young People standards, following a rigorous assessment process. In terms of the Investors in People award, we have upgraded from Silver to Gold this year, and we have retained our Investors in Young People Gold award. The assessment process involved an online assessment of all staff (which required a response rate of over 50% in order to achieve Gold standard), one-to-one interviews with selected Pointer staff, general observations from the IIP assessor, as well as performance reviews in terms of company growth, objectives and strategy. Staff were given the opportunity to be open and honest about their experience in working with the company, and the responses were overwhelmingly positive.
The Feedback Report from IIP included the following observation: “The quality of service you provide differentiates you from other businesses…”
The assessor was impressed with the company’s commitment to the provision of continuous professional development for staff who wish to progress their careers. “Your continued commitment to identifying people with the potential to progress and encouraging them to complete an ILM qualification will go a long way in supporting you going forward with a bank of ‘future leaders’ who are ready and able to fill key vacancies as and when they become vacant.”
“Your ongoing commitment to supporting people’s learning and development needs through the use of a range of sources is building your capability to achieve your vision and support your future challenges,” said the report. “In an industry where things are changing constantly, there is a need to ensure that the training you provide supports these changes. You clearly understand the value of your significant and sustained commitment to learning and development and talked in particular about the current focus on improving productivity. Cyber security, you explained, is also becoming increasingly prevalent and you talked about the significant investment in the I.T. infrastructure as well as ongoing staff training.”
In terms of our company culture, the assessor stated: “You are successfully developing a culture of honesty and trust – a culture in which people increasingly are not afraid to voice their opinions, in the knowledge that they will be listened to and their ideas and suggestions taken on board, when this is appropriate.”
Pointer’s values “are now an integral part of the appraisal process where people have to present evidence of when they have demonstrated them in their day-to-day interactions with customers and colleagues. Specific reference was made to ‘integrity’ and the importance of building strong relationships with customers by being open and honest with them at all times.”
In terms of our desire to continuously improve our offering, the report said this: “Your commitment to continuously improve the quality of service to your customers extends to your commitment to continuously improve how you support your people.”
