Some Comments from our Staff
- "Sometimes working for Pointer isn't like working for
a security company at all. In fact, at times, it's as
though we work for a cutting-edge IT business."
- "Working for Pointer, you get something
different every day..."
|
- "What I love best is developing long-term
relationships with clients, so that they become more than
simply customers, they become valued partners."
- "It's an opportunity to learn new skills and
put them into practice in some of the most demanding
environments."
Our staff are our most valuable resource.
Between us, we have hundreds of years of IT and physical security
experience.
We're not going to lie, working for Pointer is not like working
anywhere else. Brass tacks, we're a family business, and yet, at
the same time, we're an innivative, forward-thinking business which
is streaking ahead of the field and entering new
marketplaces, helping to develop new product portfolios and
geographical bases.
And although the current financial climate is difficult, Pointer
continue to encourage an atmosphere of continuous personal and
professional development. This enables us to retain our
core staff, and keep a skills template which reflects our
work activities. Staff are rewarded for this development, and
internal promotions are common. In addition, many Pointer staff
have considerable lengths-of-service at the company, testimony that
we remain a company to work for.
Key Fact
- Low staff turnover - Company-wide our turnover
stands at only 9%, and in key divisions such as Major Projects,
this is even lower. This is compared to the UK average of 13.5%

By employing long-term members of staff, we ensure that we
maintain long-term relationships with our key clients.

Investors in People
Because of our internal 'People Processes', we've been
accredited as Investors in People over and over again, and recently
achieved the Investors in People special award for our long-term
human resources vision.

And
then, of course, there's our award-winning Learning and Development
department.
Training
By tailoring our own training courses to reflect our core
business activities Pointer ensure that we have staff which are
competent and conversant with relevant technologies. The department
has 3 members of staff that bring a range of expertise from
education and management to engineering and computing. This has
enabled us to create successful partnerships with world-class
suppliers and deliver training of high-tech security systems to our
staff and to our customers. If necessary Pointer will employ
services of external organisations in order to supply the highest
levels of staff training. This ensures that Pointer is committed to
meeting the customers' training needs.
