JOB DESCRIPTION        

Position:                     Security Engineer

Location:                    Manchester

Reporting to:              Service Supervisor

Hours:                         0830-1700 (Half Hour for Lunch)

 

Objective:To install/service/maintain security systems and to provide customers with service in accordance with the Company’s published standards and to conform to all relevant British Standards.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 Customer Service

  • Deliver excellent Customer Service at all times
  • Present a professional image through high standards of personal appearance including upkeep of work wear and Company vehicle
  • Liaise with customers to agree inspection/repair programmes
  • Communicate with Customers to ensure their security systems and service contracts arrangements are meeting their requirements
  • Ensure Customer documentation is current and in good condition
  • Train customers on the correct use of their system
  • Identify opportunities to sell extra works and system enhancements
  • Charge Customers correctly in line with the contract for work undertaken

 Preventative Maintenance of Systems

  • Plan preventative maintenances in area of responsibility
  • Visit customer premises and conduct and record functional tests on their systems
  • Repair and replace system components as necessary
  • Maintain tools, calibrated test equipment and plant
  • Maintain vehicle stock of spares and consumables

 Corrective Maintenance of Systems

  • Attend Customers premises in response to system failures and malfunctions
  • Participate in out of hours call out arrangements
  • Check systems to locate faults
  • Identify and rectify faults, repair and replace system components as necessary
  • Leave systems functioning to Customers satisfaction
  • Return faulty equipment

 Installation of Additional Equipment

  • Plan and conduct the installation of additional equipment and user facilities as required
  • Conduct all work to prevailing Company and Industry Standards

 Documentation

  • Complete Service Call Sheets, On-Site Record Card and Timesheets accurately and legibly
  • Obtain relevant customer works authorisation sheet/order if applicable
  • Submit Documentation on time

 Key Performance Indicators

  • Overall Inspections
  • Average Number of Calls per day
  • Chargeable Service Revenue
  • Average Repeat Calls to systems
  • First Time Fixes Achieved
  • Service Calls left open at end of day

 Personal Specification

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues
  • Must be able to plan and work methodically to a high standard
  • Must have customer service skills
  • Must be able to drive and have a valid license
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must be prepared to have a flexible attitude to working hours and work indoors and outdoors on a range of sites
  • Must be prepared to use step ladders and other access equipment
  • Must be aware of the Industry Standards (NSI)
  • Must be certificated to SVQ Level 3 Security Systems Technical Services or equivalent
  • Must possess current CSCS, IPAF and PASMA cards
  • Must be committed to continuously developing both themselves and other members of staff responsible to them in line with company objectives
  • Must be prepared to maintain your company vehicle to a legal and company standard as set out in the Staff Handbook

 Benefits:

  • Competitive basic salary. Overtime will be paid at time and half and travelling time at single time after the first half hour, on receipt of an authorised weekly timesheet.
  • Holidays are 20 days annual, increasing to 25 days after one year’s service and 10 days’ public holidays. 
  • Pension is auto enrolment as per legislation or alternatively the candidate can opt to join our company Pension Scheme after three months’ service.   The contributions will be Employee – Minimum 4% rising to 4.5% after one year’s service – Employer – 4% initially rising to 4.5% after one year’s service.
  • Company’s Life Assurance Benefit, which is 2 x basic salary after three months’ service.
