Pointer supports over 500 operational sites for one of the UK’s largest water companies. We deliver security system maintenance, upgrades, and responsive works under a multi-year service framework.
Now in its second decade, the contract includes access systems, alarms, and Watercress platforms – maintained by a consistent in-house team with a track record of zero KPI failures.
Service continuity at national scale
Around 95% of all works, planned, reactive, and upgrade, are delivered by our own engineers. Each one is assigned to a defined geographic area, with detailed site familiarity and utility accreditation built into the delivery model.
Support includes:
- Named engineers for consistency and continuity
- A pool of resource for flexible, rapid cover
- Teams trained for utility environments and water hygiene
This structure ensures reliable service even as infrastructure evolves – with no dilution of quality or responsiveness.
Year-round access to every site
Many sites are rural and remote, with weather and terrain challenges – especially in winter.
We addressed this by:
- Using precise grid references to support efficient location and routing
- Equipping teams with 4×4 vehicles for year-round access
This approach reduces missed appointments, avoids unnecessary delays, and keeps uptime on track throughout the year.
Planned schedules, quality assured
Each year begins with an agreed programme of maintenance – giving the client full visibility of site visits, checks and schedules.
Post-installation inspections and QA reviews are carried out by a dedicated compliance manager. Performance is tracked through shared dashboards and reviewed in regular contract meetings – with live KPI data, small works tracking and upgrade status all visible in real time.
Consistent delivery, controlled cost
The framework runs on a fixed-price model which covers agreed call-out rates and long-term OPEX planning.
Over more than a decade, we’ve delivered:
- Zero KPI failures
- Full compliance with agreed budgets
- Continuous service with no gaps in performance
Expanded scope, same standards
As trust in the partnership grew, the scope extended to cover additional alarm system surveys and reporting for over 300 additional assets. We’ve also taken on Principal Contractor and Principal Designer roles for major capital works – including treatment plant upgrades and perimeter security installations.
Risks addressed early, outcomes protected
In one high-sensitivity project, we identified protected woodland and restricted access zones during pre-delivery planning. Through early contractor involvement, we reshaped the scope to meet ecological requirements without reducing security performance.
This proactive approach helped the client stay compliant, avoid programme delays, and maintain security continuity without rework.
